Code of Ethics

BRAEWORKS is a member of the System Administrators Guild of Australia (SAGE-AU). The current Victorian chapter president is the owner of BRAEWORKS. As a member of SAGE-AU, BRAEWORKS adheres to the SAGE-AU Code of Ethics.

Hosting

The host system and hardware for these hosting services are located at a data centre in Australia.
The data centre has backup power generation, data backup facilities and a dedicated 24/7 support team.
In addition to the data centre backups, BRAEWORKS backs up customer's data at regular intervals to off site archives.

Domain Name Service (DNS) is optional and is provided free as required.

Customers are provided with access details when the server is ready.
Web sites can be uploaded through FTP access or installed by BRAEWORKS. Complex web sites (i.e. online shops, CMS, ...) may attract a setup fee. Standard CMS, wiki or groupware web site/suite packages (e.g. Wordpress, Joomla, MediaWiki and eGroupWare ) available on request, free of charge, at setup time.

BRAEWORKS administers email accounts. However a WebMin/UserMin admin/user interface is available. Included in each hosting subscription is an automatic administration email account, which is not counted as part of the subscriptions email accounts and can be forwarded to another address. Each subscription has a limited number of email aliases available, usually a total of 10 times the number of email accounts. So common email addresses (e.g. sales@..., accounts@..., etc) can be directed to another email address.

Email to domains hosts by BRAEWORKS are filtered by MailGuard. It is recommended that all out bound / sent email is direct through the domain email server provided by BRAEWORKS.

Note: POPS and POP3S are the most econommical on disk space, if copies are not kept on the server. IMAP and IMAPS keep email on the server until permanently deleted by the user.

Web site subscriptions includes access to a database server. The size and number of databases is included in, and limited to, the total disk space for the subscription. Database setup can be done via the customers admin interface or by BRAEWORKS.

No java implementation is available.

The subscription traffic limits are soft limits by default. A hard limit can be set on request. The subscription administer is notified of the limits being exceeded, giving you time to resolve any resource issues.

Software Used

Server software installed is the version available in the CentOS package repositories. BRAEWORKS system administration do not "version chase" the latest software, and uses the qualified software available in the CentOS repositories. Our aim is to maintain stable operation.

Domains

If no domain is available or you don't want the extra cost of having a domain, BRAEWORKS can provide a sub-domain under braeworks.net or braeworks.net.au
For example: my-site.braeworks.net.au ("my-site" being nominated at setup time, providing the sub-domain is available).
Domain registration can be provided by BRAEWORKS, if the domain is available, and BRAEWORKS requires registration fees to be paid before set up.

Security

POP3S and IMAPS SSL email services, POP3 and IMAP TLS authenticated email services, are provided by our mail.braeworks.net email server. It is not necessary to purchase a separate SSL certificate for email.
HTTPS service requires a static address and a SSL certificate for your web site. Any fees for a SSL certificate are to be paid by the customer.

Pricing

Includes host system administration, updates and maintenance.

An "Hourly Fee" is at BRAEWORKS discretion for customer requests. Customer requested changes are charged at $85 per hour, if charged. The hourly fee is charged in 15 minute increments.

An "Extra Traffic Fee" is is charged $2.50 per gigabyte of traffic per month above the subscription allowance.

Payment

Monthly subscription payment is automatically deducted from your credit/debit card, nominated at time of purchase.
Extra internet traffic and any hourly fees are invoiced monthly.

Setup Information Required

Purchasing an internet subscription provides the hosting resource requirements. BRAEWORKS also requires specific information about your hosting requirements. Use the following as a guide;-

  • Domain name (required).
  • Is it a new domain?
  • Who owns the domain name (required).
  • Who is setting up the web site contents?
  • Email accounts usernames.
  • Database requirements.
  • Contact information (e.g. if you have a sysadmin or a person you wish to nominate, please provide their contact information).
  • Accounting/invoicing/payment contact (required).
  • Fetchmail addresses from other email servers.
  • Forwarding email addresses.
  • Add any other information you think may be relevant.

Corporate Hosting

The hosting subscriptions available here are for small business and personal plans. These plans may be unsuitable for your hosting requirements.
